The incident came in the 15th minute near the touchline when he collided with El Hadj Koné, both players falling to the turf. According to L'Équipe, the defender appeared to be briefly unconscious, prompting team-mates to call urgently for medical help.

After on-field treatment, Ferreira was removed on 23 minutes and replaced by Slovenian Tamar Svetlin.
