Confederation Cup: Wydad close group stage in first place

Wydad Casablanca ended CAF Confederation Cup group stage at the top of Group B after 2-0 win over Azam United.

Wydad maintain control of the group

Wydad Casablanca confirmed their dominance in Group B of CAF Confederation Cup after beating Azam United 2-0 in the final round of the group stage.

The match was played as part of matchday 6 and the victory allowed Wydad to close the group phase in strong fashion keeping first place ahead of their rivals.

Impressive numbers for the Moroccan side

Wydad collected 15 point from six match recording five win and only one defeat. The team scored nine goals and conceded just two underlining their balance between attack and defense.

Thanks to these results, the Moroccan club finished the group with clear gap over the rest of the teams giving them confidence ahead of the knockout stages.

While Wydad secured top spot early, the battle behind them stayed competitive until the final round.

Azam United finished third while the other teams pushed to improve their position before the end of the group phase.
