Confirmed: Barcelona prodigy joins Serie A club on a permanent transfer | OneFootball

FC Barcelona have announced that teenage wonderkid Toni Fernandez has left the club to join Serie A side Venezia on a permanent transfer.

“FC Barcelona and Venezia FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Toni Fernández . FC Barcelona retains a buy-back option and a percentage of any future sale,” the club statement read.

“FC Barcelona would like to wish Toni Fernandez the best of luck in this new chapter and thanks him for his dedication throughout all these years at the Club.”

Another exciting talent leaves

Toni Fernandez was heralded as one of the future stars at La Masia, with manager Hansi Flick rating the 18-year-old very highly.

Having risen through the ranks at the academy rapidly, he made his first-team debut for Barcelona in January 2025, at the age of 16 years, five months, and seventeen days old.

In doing so, he became the second youngest debutant of the 21st century for Barça, only behind Lamine Yamal.

He made another first-team appearance for Barcelona, starting in a La Liga game against Girona last season. Now, after eight years at the club, he has said goodbye, joining Venezia in Italy.

The Serie A club will pay a €4 million fee for the Barcelona academy graduate, while the Catalans retain a future buyback and sell-on clauses.

The announcement comes less than an hour after Toni’s cousin, Guille Fernandez, left the Blaugrana to sign for RCD Mallorca on a permanent transfer.
