Confirmed: Barcelona register Joao Cancelo with La Liga ahead of season opener vs Elche | OneFootball

FC Barcelona have successfully registered their fourth signing of the summer, Joao Cancelo, with La Liga today.

Having managed to complete the registrations of their three other summer arrivals, Rodri, Karim Adeyemi, and Anthony Gordon on Friday, the Blaugrana have managed to get the 32-year-old veteran full-back enrolled today.

With this, Barcelona have successfully registered all their new signings in time for their La Liga opener against Elche on Sunday night away at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero.

In recent transfer windows, this has been a major issue for the Catalan giants, who have to do scramble and do last-minute adjustments and manoeuvreing in order to register their players.

This time, however, the La Liga champions are back working under the 1:1 Financial Fair Play rule, meaning they have been operating with a greater freedom in the market.

On top of that, the departures of players like Robert Lewandowski, Ansu Fati, Ronald Araujo, and Ferran Torres has helped the club free up a significant chunk of salary space, allowing them to move forward with the player registrations.

As Hansi Flick gets set to take on Elche tomorrow in his first game of the season, he will have all four new signings available, although it remains to be seen if Rodri and Cancelo are called up, considering they have hardly trained with the team.
