FC Barcelona have been informed that Hansi Flick will not be allowed to sit on the bench at the Santiago Bernabeu for this Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid.

The Administrative Court for Sport (TAD) has rejected the appeal filed by the Catalan club, which sought to overturn the sanction imposed on the German coach after the Appeals Committee upheld the Disciplinary Committee’s original decision.

As a result, Flick must serve the suspension and will be unable to lead the team from the touchline.

His assistant, Marcus Sorg, will take charge in the technical area and make in-game decisions, while Flick follows the match from another section of the stadium, maintaining constant communication with his coaching staff.

It is worth noting that, as Barcelona have confirmed, Sorg will also handle the pre-match press conference on Saturday at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper before the team travels to Madrid in the afternoon.

Flick was sent off late in the game against Girona, with referee Gil Manzano issuing him two yellow cards in quick succession over the German manager’s protests against some of his decisions.

Barcelona spared no effort in trying to overturn the red card, but their appeals failed at all three levels – the RFEF Disciplinary Committee, the RFEF Appeals Committee, and now the TAD.

As such, Flick will not be on the touchline on Sunday when the La Liga champions take on Real Madrid in the first Clasico of the season.
