Manchester City take on Brentford in their seventh Premier League game of the 2025-26 season at the GTech Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues were held to a frustrating 2-2 by AS Monaco in the UEFA Champions League in midweek after a controversial Eric Dier penalty in injury-time salvaged a point for the Ligue 1 outfit at the Stade Louis II.
However, City have been in fine form since the September international break and have turned a corner since their worrying run of defeats to Tottenham and Brighton in August, having gone unbeaten in five weeks since a 2-1 defeat at the Amex Stadium.
Erling Haaland has continued his red-hot streak in front of goal and bagged his 10th and 11th goals of the season in Monaco on Wednesday, though the 25-year-old was not in the mood to discuss his personal run of form given the late collapse from his side in a game they arguably should have seen off in the second-half.
Guardiola confirmed Manchester City have no fresh injury concerns from midweek in a press conference on Friday, with the likes of Mateo Kovacic, Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait-Nouri all back in training after recovering from injury.
Rodri was taken off midway through the second-half against AS Monaco and Guardiola has doubled down on his trust in January signing Nico Gonzalez this week as Manchester City help Rodri get accustomed to the demands of playing every three days after the Ballon d’Or winner’s recent fitness issues off the back of an ACL injury.
John Stones started at right-back in midweek, with Matheus Nunes in line to return to the starting XI after scoring and assisting in last weekend’s 5-1 thrashing of Burnley, as doubts remain over the fitness of Abdukodir Khusanov.
Nico O’Reilly has been in fine form at left-back, with Jeremy Doku and Phil Foden currently Pep Guardiola’s preferred partners to Haaland in attack as Manchester City navigate a period of transition on and off the pitch at the club.
Ahead of the 16:30 [UK] kick-off on Sunday between Brentford and Manchester City in west London, here are the confirmed line-ups from both camps:
Starting XI: Kelleher; Kayode, Ajer, Collins (C), Van Den Berg, Hickey; Damsgaard, Yarmoliuk, Henderson; Schade, Thiago.
Substitutes: Valdimarsson, Henry, Pinnock, Jensen, Carvalho, Onyeka, Ouattara, Lewis-Potter, Janelt.
Starting XI: Donnarumma; Nunes, Dias (C), Gvardiol, O’Reilly; Rodri, Reijnders, Foden; Bobb, Haaland, Savinho.
