Confirmed Line-Ups: Manchester City vs Wolves (Premier League)

Manchester City return to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they look to arrest a worrying slump in form and get their Premier League title charge back on track against bottom-of-the-table Wolves.

Pep Guardiola’s side enter the contest following back-to-back defeats on the road; a 2-0 loss in the Manchester derby followed by a disappointing 3-1 reverse at the hands of Bodø/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Blues have been hampered by a significant injury crisis in recent weeks, particularly in defensive areas. Guardiola confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, John Stones, Mateo Kovacic, Savinho, Matheus Nunes and Nico Gonzalez remain sidelined. However, in a pleasant surprise, Nunes has made the lineup.

Guardiola has also been handed a major boost with the availability of new signing Marc Guehi. The England international, who completed a £20 million move from Crystal Palace earlier this week, is eligible for domestic selection after missing the midweek defeat in the Arctic Circle.

The selection of Marc Guehi is undoubtedly the headline news for the Premier League champions. After a whirlwind week that saw the 25-year-old swap south London for east Manchester, he is thrown immediately into the deep end.

With Dias and Stones missing, Guardiola will be leaning heavily on the debutant’s composure and leadership to settle a backline that has looked uncharacteristically porous in recent outings.

Elsewhere, Bernardo Silva returns to the fold after missing the trip to Norway through suspension, while January arrival Antoine Semenyo also restored to the lineup after being ineligible in midweek.

Manchester City know that anything less than three points this afternoon would represent a significant blow to their aspirations of retaining the crown. With the Etihad crowd behind them, the pressure is firmly on Guardiola’s men to produce a performance that silences the doubters and reasserts their dominance at the top of the table.

Ahead of the 15:00 UK kick-off at the Etihad Stadium, Pep Guardiola and Rob Edwards have confirmed their respective starting line-ups.
