FC Barcelona have officially confirmed that former midfielder and club legend Sergio Busquets has returned to the club as an assistant coach for the reserve team, Barça Atletic.
The former club captain will join Juliano Belletti’s staff while working to get his coaching badges simultaneously.
“Sergio Busquets joins Barça Atlètic as assistant coach from this Monday. The Barça legend is joining Juliano Belletti’s team to bring his experience and football knowledge to the Barça team while he completes his coaching course,” the statement read.
One of the best ever to do it, Busquets is a product of La Masia who broke into the senior team in 2008 under Pep Guardiola and went on to form the golden triangle in midfield with Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta.

Busquets left Barcelona in 2023 after winning the La Liga title under Xavi, to sign for Inter Miami, where he reunited with former teammate and best friend Lionel Messi.
After two years in the USA, the legendary midfielder decided to hang up his boots in 2025.
A while ago, it was reported that he was in talks with Barcelona over a potential return in a coaching role while he continues working towards obtaining his badges.
Now, it has been made official, with Busquets, who made more than 700 appearances for Barça, returning as an assistant coach for the reserve team, where he will help shape the future of the prodigious talents coming through La Masia.
