After Leverkusen head-coach Xabi Alonso relayed a grim early prognosis yesterday, the defending 2023/24 Bundesliga champs quickly confirmed that a fractured right forearm will sideline attacker Martin Terrier for the duration of the calendar year. Terrier had only just returned from a thigh injury, incurring the latest mishap in Saturday's league victory over Heidenheim.
Terrirer's loss - combined with that of Victor Boniface, Jonas Hofmann, and Amie Adli - leaves Alonso short of options in attack. Yesterday, the Werkself trainer ran a 3-1-4-2 with Florian Wirtz and Patrik Schick working the top axis. In the event that Xabi wishes to return to his usual 3-4-3, converted wingback Nathan Tella may receive a chance to work at his natural position.
