According to Coluna Do Fla, Conmebol has appointed Uruguayan referee Andrés Matonte to take charge of Flamengo v Independiente Medellín at the Maracanã on Thursday 16 in the Libertadores group stage.
He will be assisted by compatriots Martín Soppi and Pablo Llarena, with fellow Uruguayan Antonio García on VAR.
A FIFA official who worked at the 2022 World Cup, the 38-year-old has overseen two Flamengo matches.

He also handled the 2023 Recopa Sudamericana second leg, which Flamengo won 1-0 to level the tie, before losing 5-4 on penalties and finishing runners-up.
Kick-off is 21:30 Brasília time, and the fixture counts for Group A’s second round.
