Conmebol has fined Corinthians US$23,000 for incidents during their Copa Libertadores quarter-final second leg on 16 September, worth about R$120,000 at current rates.
According to Globo.com, Fernando Diniz’s side lost 1-0 to Estudiantes of Argentina at Neo Química Arena, which confirmed their elimination.
The punishment includes US$8,000 for breaching rules on post-match player interviews, and US$5,000 for failing to route all registered players through the mixed zone.
A further US$5,000 relates to supporter behaviour that disturbed the wellbeing, tranquillity or safety of the visiting delegation at their hotel or in transit.
Another US$5,000 was levied for allowing a handheld flag larger than Conmebol’s permitted maximum size.
The amount will be deducted automatically from television or sponsorship monies due from Conmebol to Corinthians, and the decision is not open to appeal.
