Conmebol has made cooling breaks mandatory throughout the Copa Libertadores, with the policy applied from the first match of the 2026 edition.

The breaks are to be used in every fixture regardless of the weather.

Despite temperatures around 10°C in La Paz, Brazilian referee Paulo César Zanovelli halted play to implement the stoppage.

Under the regulations, the interruption should last up to 90 seconds.
