CONMEBOL has confirmed the draws for the Copa Sudamericana and Copa Libertadores last 16 will take place on 29 May in Luque, Paraguay, once the group stages conclude.
Santos remain in a precarious position in the Sudamericana. The 2-2 draw with San Lorenzo left them bottom of Group D on four points.
Cuca’s side can no longer finish top, the only spot that secures direct passage to the last 16. Their target is now second place to reach the play-offs.
To keep that hope alive, Santos must beat Deportivo Cuenca in their final match on Tuesday at 21:30, Brasília time, at Vila Belmiro, and also need Recoleta to avoid victory away to San Lorenzo in Argentina. If the Paraguayan club do win, Santos would have to overturn a three-goal deficit in goal difference to the Argentines.
In the Sudamericana, only group winners advance straight to the last 16, with runners-up facing the third-placed teams dropping from the Libertadores in play-offs. All knockout pairings will be decided in that draw.
The eliminator calendar is set as follows, play-offs from 21 to 30 July, last 16 from 11 to 20 August, quarter-finals from 8 to 17 September, semi-finals from 14 to 22 October, and the final on 21 November in Barranquilla, Colombia.
