Connor Barron has sent a message to Middlesbrough fans after he sealed a loan move from Rangers on the final day of the window.

It has been a hectic summer for Boro following their play-off final defeat to Hull City in May, with Hayden Hackney the headline departure.

However, his sale, combined with a windfall following a sell-on clause after Morgan Rogers signed for Chelsea from Aston Villa, meant the Teesside outfit were in a position to spend.

Yet, going into the final day, Kim Hellberg was hoping for reinforcements, and Boro sealed deals for Amario Cozier-Duberry and Barron.

The latter has signed for the remainder of the campaign from Rangers, with the midfielder having fallen down the pecking order at Ibrox following a host of new arrivals under Derek McInnes.

Therefore, Barron will have been keen to go elsewhere, and he will now hope to play an important part in Boro’s promotion push.

And, taking to Instagram, Barron sent a message after the transfer had been announced, as he expressed his happiness at the deal going through.

“Buzzing to be here at Middlesbrough. Can’t wait to get started. See you all soon.”

Hackney’s exit meant Boro were going to need in midfield reinforcements this summer, and the club deserve credit because they look to have made some excellent additions.

Sebastian Berhalter is going to be a big player for Boro this season, and Rokas Pukstas could be a smart bit of business, even if he is going to play in a more advanced role.

You could argue that Boro are well-stocked, but one more defensive-minded player means they now have a great balance in the middle of the park.

Obviously, Barron is going to have to battle to get ahead of the likes of Berhalter and Aidan Morris, but, over the course of a long, tough season, he will get plenty of opportunities to show what he can do.

Barron is someone who is capable in possession, but he is also intense in how he looks to win the ball back, and he will stick his foot in, so he is ideally suited to the way Hellberg wants to play.

To get him on loan means it’s a relatively low-risk deal for Middlesbrough, and Barron will be determined to make his mark on the team.

Following on from that, Boro will feel they have left themselves in a great position to cope with the demands of the second tier.

As mentioned, the league is known for how relentless it is, and you need the squad to deal with that, but it shouldn’t be a problem for Middlesbrough now.

When you look at the first XI that Hellberg can pick, there is a lot of quality, and all connected to Boro will be pleased with the deals they have managed to get over the line in the window.
