Rickie Lambert has revealed his feelings on Rangers FC, with the former Liverpool and Southampton striker having never played in Scotland...
Former Liverpool and Southampton striker Rickie Lambert has dropped a revelation concerning Scottish giants Rangers and the possibility of playing for the club.
The 44-year-old retired from football at the end of the 2016/17 season, having scored goals in League Two, League One, the Championship, the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, three for England, and many more.
He is best known for his five years with Southampton, with Rickie Lambert scoring 117 of his almost 250 career goals for the Saints in that period before joining boyhood club Liverpool in 2014 on an initial two-year contract.

Speaking via Ian Abrahams on X, and after much deliberation, Lambert revealed the team past or present that he would have liked to have played for as Rangers.
Of course, there is a strong historical connection between Liverpool and Rangers, with the two clubs having long shared links through players, managers, and supporters down the years.
Perhaps the most famous recent example is Steven Gerrard, who spent his entire playing career at Liverpool before managing Rangers and guiding them to the Scottish Premiership title in 2020/21. Graeme Souness also represented both clubs as a player and later managed Rangers.
Ian Rush and Mark Walters are among others to have had connections with both. Given that history, it is easy to understand why Rangers might hold a particular appeal for Lambert, who spent the latter part of his career at Anfield.
For a player with strong Liverpool ties, it is a natural club to wonder about. Of course, many scousers have a second team in Rangers or Celtic and it appears as though Lambert may be no different based on his answer here.

Lambert enjoyed a remarkable career after beginning in the lower leagues, becoming best known for his spells with Bristol Rovers, Southampton and Liverpool.
He scored 51 goals in 128 league appearances for Rovers before joining Southampton in 2009, where he truly established himself in English football.
Lambert scored 106 league goals in 207 appearances for the Saints, helping them rise from League One to the Premier League and eventually earning an England call-up. His form also secured the move he had dreamed of as a boy, joining Liverpool in 2014.
Although his season at Anfield was difficult, simply representing his boyhood club was a remarkable achievement. After spells with West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City in the Championship, Lambert retired in 2017 at 35 after failing to find another club.

Lambert deserves enormous credit for the career he carved out, particularly given where he started. Very few players rise through the divisions in the way he did before eventually reaching the Premier League and earning England recognition.
It makes his journey one of English football’s more remarkable success stories of recent times, while his status at Southampton is particularly significant to this day.
Lambert is one of the most iconic players of the modern era at St. Mary’s, and only a handful of players have scored more goals for the Saints. However, there is also an interesting question over what might have happened had his career taken him to Scotland.
