Conor Coady was taken to hospital after being knocked out by a shot during Charlton Athletic’s 1-1 draw at Watford on Bank Holiday Monday, but scans later gave him the all clear.

The 33-year-old was making his 500th career club appearance when he was struck in second-half stoppage time at Vicarage Road and carried off on a stretcher. Charlton said he underwent scans, was discharged that evening, will be monitored under appropriate protocols, and they thanked Watford’s medical staff.

Coady later thanked the medical teams in a post on Instagram.

The former Wolves captain played over 300 games at Molineux, joined Wrexham in the summer, then moved to Championship strugglers Charlton on loan in January after limited game time.

The incident overshadowed his milestone outing, though the swift all clear provided relief for club and player alike.
