According to Coluna Do Fla, talks between Flamengo and São Paulo over Marcos Antônio are on hold because São Paulo have not yet won in 2026, a result required before they can buy him from Lazio.
The midfielder is on loan from the Italian club and has not met the contractual targets for São Paulo’s obligatory purchase. Only one criterion remains, the team’s first victory of the year.
Flamengo are waiting for São Paulo to complete that deal before stepping up their move for Marcos Antônio. The agreement would be worth 4.2 million euros, around R$ 26 million, for 80 percent of his rights, paid in four instalments.
São Paulo also face internal turbulence, with president Julio Casares set to face a deliberative council vote for a possible impeachment on Friday 16.
Flamengo’s midfield needs attention, as Saúl has undergone surgery and is only expected back in March or April. De La Cruz is also being managed closely due to a chronic knee issue.
Marcos Antônio remains a target. Flamengo considered including Allan in talks, but São Paulo prefer separate negotiations, so Flamengo will wait to see whether a move is possible.
