Valencia returned to work at the Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna ahead of Thursday’s Copa del Rey last-16 match at El Plantío, but Carlos Corberán was without two key players.
According to AS, César Tárrega and José Luis Gayà did not train with the group 48 hours before the trip. Both attended on their day off yesterday and spent today in the gym for workload management.
The three injured players were also absent. Diakhaby, Thierry Correia and Agirrezabala continue their recoveries. The centre-back underwent surgery and is out for the season.
Corberán supplemented the session with several players from the reserve side, including Vicente Abril, Panach, Rubo Iranzo and Joel Fontanet.
In the absence of several players, he tested Pepelu as a centre-back alongside Panach during specific drills.
