Corinthians agree Copinha defender's move to Hungary

This Tuesday (10th), Corinthians reached an agreement for the departure of defender Fernando Vera, 20, to ZTE, a top division team in Hungary. There, he is expected to sign a multi-season contract to join the professional squad. The Paraguayan had a contract until July 2026 with the club from Parque São Jorge. The information was initially reported by TMC.

In the negotiation, Corinthians will not receive any financial compensation, but on the other hand, will retain 10% of the player's economic rights. The Hungarians will hold 80%, while the remaining 10% will be under the control of the defender himself. Born in 2005, Fernando Vera aged out of the youth categories after the 2026 São Paulo Cup and was not in the plans of the main team's coaching staff, led by coach Dorival Júnior.

In the 2026 edition of Brazil's most important youth tournament, he was a starter in the four matches he played. However, in the elimination of Timãozinho, led by William Batista, against Guarani in the second phase, he ended up making a mistake in the second goal of the Campinas team, which practically sealed the departure of Alvinegro from the competition.

As mentioned, out of the professional plans, Fernando Vera had been training separately at the youth training center, along with over 20 other athletes not included in Corinthians' Under-20 planning. The defender joined Parque São Jorge in 2023 – under the management of Duílio Monteiro Alves – after stints at Cerro Porteño, Paraguay, and Ska Brasil, in the interior of São Paulo.

His debut in the Under-20 only occurred in 2024. In total, he played 60 matches for the category – 23 wins, 16 draws, and 21 losses – with one goal scored. He also participated in training sessions with the main team during the times when Vanderlei Luxemburgo (2023), Mano Menezes (2023-2024), Ramón Díaz (2024-2025), and Dorival Júnior were in charge – the latter still holds the position.
