Corinthians could suffer back-to-back defeats to Coritiba for the first time since 2003 if they lose on Sunday at Couto Pereira. As reported by Meu Timao.

In 2003, they were beaten 1-0 in both Brasileirão meetings, first at Morumbis as hosts, then at Couto Pereira, the venue again this weekend.

Since then, the head-to-head reads 17 Corinthians wins, eight draws and two Coritiba victories. In March this year Coritiba won 2-0 at Neo Química Arena, with Jacy and Lucas Ronier on the scoresheet. Dorival Júnior was head coach, but Lucas Silvestre led the team on the touchline due to a suspension.

Corinthians also aim to avoid their first defeat at Couto Pereira since 2011, when they lost 1-0 in the league. From that point, they have recorded four wins and five draws there.

Recent away league form offers encouragement, with wins at Grêmio and Red Bull Bragantino and a draw at Bahia. Timão are ninth on 32 points, with Coritiba a point behind, and victory could take them up to fifth and closer to the G4.
