Corinthians and Internacional honour International Day of Older Persons

Later today at 7:30 PM (Brasília time), Corinthians will face Internacional at the Beira-Rio Stadium, in a match valid for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship. Moments before the start of the game, both teams will enter the field along with 60 fans over the age of 60, in tribute to the International Day of Older Persons.

October 1st was designated by the UN as the International Day of Older Persons to highlight to society the main challenges of ensuring the rights of the elderly. Additionally, it is a way to fight against prejudice towards people in this age group and emphasize how important it is to stay healthy even at an advanced age. Click here to check the post.

“Tonight, the squads of Inter and Corinthians will enter the field accompanied by fans over 60 years old who will be wearing a commemorative shirt for the International Day of Older Persons, a date created by the UN and celebrated this Wednesday (01/10).”

“Carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the initiative alerts society about aging issues and the need to protect and ensure the rights of the elderly population, in addition to promoting rights and highlighting the importance of combating age discrimination and ensuring dignified aging,” says the publication.

At the moment, Corinthians is only in 14th place in the national competition with 29 points (seven wins, eight draws, and 10 losses – 25 goals scored and 31 conceded). The match between the teams is popularly known as a “six-point game,” as Internacional is just below Alvinegro in the table with 28 points.
