Corinthians and Memphis remain optimistic over a new deal despite disputes about the debt figure and termination terms in talks.

According to Globo.com, Corinthians say Memphis Depay’s side asked to lift the total debt from R$ 42 million to R$ 51 million. It would be paid in four semi-annual instalments, the first due in February 2027.

The club also says his lawyers sought a unilateral termination right if commercial rights and collective bonuses are paid late. Corinthians would accept that if it sits within the Lei Geral do Esporte, which allows termination after two months of arrears.

Memphis’ representatives deny requesting any change to the debt value. They declined to comment on the termination clause.

Fresh negotiations are scheduled for Saturday between president Osmar Stabile and the Dutch forward.

Both parties feel an agreement is edging closer. Memphis has been in Brazil since Tuesday, attended the Internacional match at Neo Química Arena, and has posted daily training footage and messages of affection for Corinthians.

The football department, currently only accompanying the talks, awaits him at CT Joaquim Grava. The plan is to have him on the pitch next Thursday against Rosario Central in Argentina, at the opening of the Conmebol Libertadores round of 16.
