SAFiel executives met Corinthians leaders for four hours on Wednesday to discuss converting the club into a SAF, a session marked by frank exchanges. According to Globo.com, it was their first face-to-face debate since the proposal was sent.
President Osmar Stabile convened the meeting at Parque São Jorge with vice-president Armando Mendonça, Council chiefs Romeu Tuma Júnior and Miguel Marques e Silva, and directors Pedro Soares and Pedro Castilho.
Early in the meeting, Eduardo Salusse of SAFiel characterised proceedings as an airing of grievances, as club figures challenged the businessmen over public comments, online pressure and perceived inaccuracies they said were stirring hostility towards the board.
Salusse voiced discomfort about personal data being shared and the tone of debate, saying SAFiel had become a lightning rod for club news. He said the project has been on the table for nearly a year and asked fans for patience, since outcomes require staged steps.
Afterwards, the Council president presented a document, co-signed by Stabile and Miguel, listing technical questions about the plan.
One issue concerned a document described by SAFiel as non-binding, authorising the group to seek up to R$ 2.5 billion for a potential SAF. Salusse said it would still impose obligations on the club and clarified that non-binding applies only to the final decision, while interim stages would be binding and require data and asset valuations.
Both sides agreed to formalise the queries for an official written response. Carlos Teixeira said the questions were natural and raised cooperatively, while Salusse said the priority is to restore calm communication, clarify doubts and then discuss the next step.
