Fitness issues have hit the attack hardest. In February, Yuri Alberto suffered a grade 2 left hamstring injury and missed six matches. On 22 March, Memphis Depay strained the anterior muscle in his right thigh against Flamengo and missed the next 15 games, and in late July Yuri injured the back of his right thigh versus Athletico Paranaense and has been out since.

Three players are currently in the treatment room. Zakaria Labyad and Kayke are recovering from anterior cruciate ligament injuries in their left knees and are expected to return only in 2027. Gabriel Paulista is being treated for a medial collateral ligament strain in his right knee and is expected to miss matches against Internacional and Palmeiras.

Manager Fernando Diniz could soon receive welcome boosts. Yuri Alberto is in the final stages of rehab from fibrosis in his right hamstring. André Carrillo is recovering from muscle oedema in the back of his left thigh and is not expected to be a problem for October fixtures.

The timing matters, with Corinthians 14th in the Brasileirão on 32 points, three clear of Grêmio, who occupy the first relegation spot.

Their next match is at Internacional on Wednesday, seven October, at 19:30 at Beira-Rio, in the 29th round of the Brasileirão.
