Corinthians beat Athletico-PR 1-0 in a delayed round-two Brasileiro match at Arena da Baixada, but the fallout centred on assistant Lucas Silvestre accusing referee Rodrigo José Pereira de Lima’s report of being untrue.

According to Meu Timao, Corinthians complained of inconsistent foul and card decisions, the penalty awarded against Matheus Bidu for a challenge on Viveros that Julimar failed to convert, more than 20 minutes of stoppage time, and Silvestre’s dismissal.

In his official match report, Rodrigo José Pereira de Lima wrote that Silvestre received a straight red for insulting the officials and, on his way off, directing further abusive and intimidating words at fourth official Anderson Ribeiro Gonçalves, who felt offended.

Silvestre rejected that account on social media, calling the document a lie about what he told the referee and the fourth official. He said the exchanges were recorded by VAR and urged the release of the audio to support his version.

It was not the first time the referee’s handling of a Corinthians game drew fire. On 1 October 2025, the 1-1 draw at Internacional saw protests over a disallowed Hugo Farias goal for a tight offside deemed inconclusive on broadcast images, and a late penalty against Cacá on Bruno Henrique that Carbonero converted.

After that match, Dorival Júnior waited for the referee as he left the pitch to issue stronger complaints following his own dismissal, and was held by security. He then criticised the officiating in his press conference, a stance echoed by Fabinho Soldado and president Osmar Stabile. All three were later tried by the STJD and acquitted. Silvestre also underlined the importance of Thursday’s away win.
