Corinthians attack struggling for goals in the Brasileirão

Corinthians is facing an offensive problem at the start of the season. The team’s forwards are not managing to score and have yet to find the back of the net in the Brazilian Championship.

Even though Corinthians has scored six goals in the last six games, the forwards have been struggling to score. Since Yuri Alberto’s injury on February 16, the Timão’s front line has not found the net.

Without their top scorer, who has scored four times this year, Corinthians’ goals have started coming from other positions. In the last matches of the Brasileirão, midfielder Rodrigo Garro and defender João Pedro Tchoca found the net.

Before that, in the first two rounds, defenders Gabriel Paulista and Matheus Bidu, as well as midfielder Breno Bidon, scored for Corinthians. Thus, of the five goals scored by Timão, none were made by a forward.

Why aren’t Corinthians’ forwards scoring?

With low efficiency in the Paulista, Dorival Júnior’s team is feeling the absence of Yuri Alberto. When Memphis had the chance to be Corinthians’ main reference, the Dutchman didn’t perform as well as he does when playing out wide. Besides him, Vitinho, Gui Negão, and Pedro Raul also got their chances, but couldn’t find the net.
