Corinthians beat Mogi Basquete at home for fifth straight win

On the evening of Wednesday (18), Corinthians hosted Mogi Basquete at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium, located in Parque São Jorge, in their 27th game of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), and won by a score of 82 to 75. With this result, the Corinthians team jumped to fifth place in the national tournament with 19 wins and eight losses – 46 points.

Coach Jece Leite started the following lineup for the match: Davaunta Thomas, Victão, Elyjah Clark, Lucas Cauê, and Elinho. The bench options were: Lucas Cardoso, Tico Faria, Kauan Raymundo, Cauê Borges, Kaique, Rafael Munford, and Gabriel Novaes. The opponent took the court with: Ruivo, Dikembe, Paulo, Duane Jhonson, and Anderson.

Corinthians, overall, was superior for most of the match and won three – precisely the first three – of the four quarters: 21 to 15, 20 to 16, and 21 to 20. The fourth and final quarter, in turn, was won by the opponent by 24 to 20. Even so, the club from Parque São Jorge ended up victorious in the final score, as mentioned at the beginning of this article. The main highlights for Corinthians in the match were Elinho, who scored 19 points, seven assists, and five rebounds, as well as Lucas Cauê (11 points and eight rebounds) and Elyjah Clark (13 points and three assists).

The club from Parque São Jorge now has five consecutive wins in the national competition, achieving its best streak in the tournament since November of last year: 75 to 67 over Vasco, away; 74 to 73 against Botafogo, also as visitors; 96 to 76 against Fortaleza Basquete Cearense, at Wlamir Marques; 81 to 75 over Unifacisa, at Wlamir; and now, 82 to 75 against Mogi, at Parque São Jorge.

Jece Leite's team will return to the court next Sunday (22), at 7:30 pm (Brasília time), to face São José Basketball at Farma Conde Arena, for the 28th game of the national competition.
