Corinthians beat Pró-Esporte Sorocaba, reach Paulista semis

On the evening of this Wednesday (5), the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium hosted another Corinthians match in the São Paulo Women's Basketball Championship. The Furiosas faced Pró-Esporte Sorocaba in the second game of the best-of-three series in the quarterfinals of the competition, and in a balanced performance, they dominated the duel from start to finish, winning 69 x 47.

With this result, the Alvinegro secured their spot in the state semifinals, having also won the first game in Sorocaba, 69 x 45, thus closing the series at 2 x 0. Now, the team awaits the winner of the match between Ourinhos and Santo André to find out who they will face for a spot in the Paulista final – the first game between them was won by Ourinhos, 68 x 63.

For the decisive game, coach Bruno Guidorizzi chose to start with a lineup of Yasmim Gonçalves, Licinara, Alana, Thayná Silva, and Tássia. The available substitutes were Glenda Maria, Tayná Fernanda, Jamile, Ana Beatriz, Jaqueline de Paula, and Júlia Mansilha.

The Furiosas quickly gained an advantage in the match, asserting their superiority and finishing the first period with a partial victory of 25 x 14. The double-digit lead allowed the team to calmly manage the result, controlling the pace of the game – even so, the team won the other three quarters by 16 x 13, 13 x 10, and 15 x 13, to finish with a 69 x 47 victory at Wlamir Marques.

Thayná Silva was the main individual highlight of the match, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Licinara also contributed well to the team, with another 13 points. Alana led in assists, providing five during the match.
