Corinthians beat São Paulo at Fazendinha, stay top in Paulista

On the morning of Saturday, November 1st, Corinthians took the field to face São Paulo at Fazendinha, in a match valid for the 10th round of the Paulista Women's Championship. The match ended with a score of 3-1 for Timão, who scored through Jhonson, Tamires, and Thaís Regina.

Despite taking the lead early and being better than their opponents, Corinthians were not very efficient in the offensive sector and saw São Paulo tie the game in the first half with their only clear chance. In the second half, the pace was slower at first, but soon Timão began to improve and regained the lead with Tamires.

Corinthians Lineup

To extend their lead at the top of the championship, coach Lucas Piccinato chose a starting eleven made up of: Lelê; Thaís Regina, Erika and Letícia Teles; Gi Fernandes, Ivana Fuso, Vic Albuquerque, Letícia Monteiro and Tamires; Ariel Godoi and Jhonson.

On the bench, the staff had Kemelli, Rillary, Letícia Santos, Gisela Robledo, Gabi Zanotti, Eudimilla, Juliana Passari, Manu Olivan, Paulinha, Duda Mineira and Carol Nogueira.

São Paulo Lineup

Coach Caio Couto lined up: Carlinha; Anny, Kaká and Carol Gil; Karla Alves, Maressa, Camilinha and Aline; Serrana, Crivelari and Isa.

Refereeing

The referee was Rodrigo Fernandes Júnior, assisted by Henrique Perinelli Oliveira and Izabele de Oliveira. The fourth official was Leonardo Delfino de Abreu Lima.

Next Fixture

After facing São Paulo at Parque São Jorge for the Paulista Women's Championship, Corinthians remain focused on the state competition. On the next November 10th, Monday, at 8pm (Brasília time), the Brabas will visit Palmeiras at Arena Barueri for the 12th round of the tournament's first phase.

First Half

Corinthians started by dominating possession and controlling the game. In the third minute, Tamires took a free kick and sent the ball into the box, the opposing goalkeeper tried to clear, but it fell to Ariel, whose shot was blocked. However, the referee had already called a foul in attack.

The first goal for Corinthians: In the sixth minute, Jhonson received the ball from Tamires in the box and was brought down by Isa. The referee awarded a penalty, and the striker herself converted, hitting the goalkeeper's right corner.

São Paulo's goal: In the 17th minute, Isa received a long ball behind Tamires, entered the box and crossed low, finding Serrana, who finished first-time and beat Lelê to tie the game.

In the 20th minute, Erika played the ball out poorly and gave it straight to Carol Gil, who carried it to the edge of the box and shot, but without power, making it easy for Lelê to save. At 21 minutes, Vic Albuquerque tried a long-range shot and forced the opposing goalkeeper to make a good save.

In the 23rd minute, Ariel found a great pass to Ivana Fuso behind the defense. The number 13 dribbled the goalkeeper and shot, but saw Aline Milene clear the ball almost on the line, preventing Corinthians' second goal.

At 25 minutes, the ball was launched into the box, Jhonson beat Kaká and shot, forcing Carlinha to make the save and deny the goal. In the next play, after a corner from Tamires, the ball fell to Ariel who pushed it into the net, but the referee called a handball on Jhonson.

At 30 minutes, São Paulo had a dangerous free kick at the edge of the box. On the shot, Camilinha sent it over Lelê's goal. There was no time for any more dangerous plays and the teams went into halftime tied 1-1.

Second Half

The second half started at a slower pace compared to the first, with both teams battling for the ball in midfield but unable to create dangerous chances.

At 18 minutes, Karla Alves tried a long-range shot to surprise Lelê, but the Corinthians goalkeeper made a safe save in two attempts. At 23 minutes, São Paulo had a dangerous free kick at the edge of the box and Karla tried a powerful shot, but the Timão goalkeeper again saved in two attempts.

The second goal for Corinthians: At 26 minutes, Gabi Zanotti received the ball on the right and made a great cross, finding Tamires between the opposing defenders. The left-back headed beautifully into the net, putting Corinthians back in front.

At 36 minutes, after a corner, the ball fell to defender Letícia Teles, who tried a first-time shot with her left foot, but only hit the side netting. At 42 minutes, Carlinha played the ball out poorly and almost gave it to Eudimilla in the box, but the ball bounced off the striker and went out.

At 43 minutes, Gisela Robledo received a through ball behind the defense, sprinted and was one-on-one with the goalkeeper. The attacking midfielder chose to pass to Eudimilla but missed, sending it out and wasting a good chance.

At 49 minutes, Eudimilla broke away behind the São Paulo defense and was brought down by Kaká near the box. The referee called the foul and sent off the rival defender.

The third goal for Corinthians: Gabi Zanotti took the free kick and shot hard. The opposing goalkeeper parried, and Thaís Regina was there to push it into the net and extend Timão's lead.

There was no time for anything else and Corinthians left the field with a 3-1 victory.
