Corinthians boss praises Filhos do Terrão after Paulistão win

On the evening of this Thursday (5th), Corinthians hosted Capivariano at 8:30 PM (Brasília time) at the Neo Química Arena, for the sixth round of the first phase of the 2026 Campeonato Paulista, and won 3-0, with goals from Dieguinho, Gui Negão, and Kayke. The result took the Alvinegro Paulista to fourth place in the State Championship, with 11 points earned.

After the match, coach Dorival Jr gave a press conference and began by praising Timão’s youth academy, responsible for all three of the team’s goals: “I’m happy to witness a moment like this. The foundation of my work has always been this, I’ve tried to value it at every club. The connection between the youth academy and the main squad raises the level of the group. Signings are important to support these youngsters, without rushing anything. These boys may be our greatest legacy, they’ll be on the market with interesting values for the club. We still need to further improve the conditions. I’m happy to see these players emerging, taking up important spaces, and stepping up. It’s important to have the courage to give them a chance, that’s something I learned a long time ago. I truly believe in this kind of work.”

When talking about the injuries to Hugo Farias and Kaio César, the coach was cautious in giving updates: “We’re still not certain, I’d rather avoid commenting for now. Tomorrow we’ll do the tests to understand better. I actually believe Hugo’s situation is more serious than Kaio’s, but it’s lighter than he himself thought at the time.”

Still questioned about the left-back position, Dorival Jr spoke about the status of negotiations with Argentine Fabrizio Angileri, who is still seeking a contract renewal with Timão: “We’re still not certain, later Marcelo can give a more secure update. Negotiations are ongoing, but nothing finalized yet.”
