Itatiaia reports that 19-year-old centre-back Yago Melo has been named in Corinthians’ travelling squad to face Flamengo in Rio on Sunday, in the 27th round of the Brasileiro.

It will be his first time available for an official senior match for Corinthians. He was previously listed for the friendly against Cascavel, but stayed on the bench throughout.

He is expected to remain among the substitutes at the Maracanã. Fernando Diniz is expected to rest part of his starters, with the Libertadores quarter-final second leg against Estudiantes of Argentina ahead. In Saturday’s final session, João Pedro Tchoca and Iago Machado formed the starting pairing.

Melo joined Corinthians’ under-20s in February after leaving Flamengo. He had spent eight seasons with the Rio club and captained the under-15 and under-17 at times.

Before the move, Filipe Luís had also named him in a Flamengo senior squad for the 3-3 draw with Mirassol on the final matchday of the 2025 Brasileiro. Since arriving at Parque São Jorge he has played 21 under-20 matches, scoring two goals, and is a first-choice option for William Batista alongside Levy Dias.
