Corinthians are exploring a move to bring back Gabi Nunes as the transfer window nears, with head coach Emily Lima endorsing the idea and urging the board to act amid rival interest.
According to Meu Timao, the club have contacted the former forward to present Lima's project and test her interest in a return. Discussions also covered potential salary terms.
At Fazendinha after the clássico with São Paulo, Lima said she had recommended Nunes to the board, stressing the need to move before rivals. She noted Nunes' affinity with the club and fans, and said the final decision sits with the hierarchy while she focuses on coaching.
The 29-year-old is understood to view a Corinthians comeback favourably and would prioritise the club if she returns to Brazilian football. With overall debt around R$ 3 billion, salaries are the main hurdle, even with no transfer fee, and talks continue while the player weighs other options.
Nunes scored 77 goals and provided 20 assists across 115 games for Corinthians between 2016 and 2021, winning five trophies including the 2020 and 2021 Brasileirões, the 2019 and 2020 Paulistas and the 2016 Copa do Brasil. She is fourth on the Brabas' scoring list, behind Grazi, Gabi Zanotti and Vic Albuquerque.
She left for Madrid CFF in mid-2021, later joining Levante, then moved to Aston Villa in 2024, where she has 23 appearances, six goals and one assist. Back surgery early this European season limited her to one outing in 2025/26.
