Corinthians conduct Vila Belmiro inspection during Santos trip ahead of Brasileiro opener | OneFootball

Corinthians used Thursday’s visit to Santos to carry out a technical inspection at Vila Belmiro, preparing for a match they will host there next Wednesday.

At 19:30 the rivals meet at the same venue in the fourth round of the Campeonato Paulista. According to Meu Timao, club directors were on site to study stadium operations and matchday procedures.

Corinthians will stage their Brasileiro debut against Bahia at Vila Belmiro, part of an arrangement involving Santos and the CBF to ensure the team have the same three days’ rest as Flamengo before the Supercopa do Brasil.

Corinthians face Flamengo in the Supercopa on 1 February at Mané Garrincha in Brasília. Initially, they were set to start the league on 29 January, a day after Flamengo, so the club sought to bring their opener forward.

Separately, Santos will host Red Bull Bragantino at Neo Química Arena on Sunday in the Paulistão. The date was free because Corinthians will be in Rio Claro to face Velo Clube in the state competition.
