Corinthians confirm Fabinho Soldado's exit as football director

Late on Tuesday night (23), Corinthians officially announced the departure of football executive Fabinho Soldado. The professional had been hired at the beginning of 2024, at the start of the tenure of the ousted president Augusto Melo. During his two seasons at the club, he played a crucial role in shielding the squad amid off-field issues and in the signings during the mid-2024 transfer window.

"Sport Club Corinthians Paulista informs that the football executive Fabinho Soldado is no longer part of the Club's Football Department. The decision was made by mutual agreement between the parties. Corinthians thanks the professional for his services, dedication, and commitment shown during his tenure, wishing him success in his future professional challenges. The Club will continue working on restructuring its Football Department and will inform about the next steps in due course,” the club said in a statement.

According to the portal Meu Timão, this afternoon, there was a meeting among club officials to decide on the executive's departure from the Parque São Jorge club's board. After the meeting, it was decided that the professional would not remain at Corinthians for the 2026 season.

Internally, the Corinthians squad approved of Fabinho Soldado's work, especially regarding the process of protecting the squad amid the club's turbulent political moment. The executive was responsible for hiring coach Dorival Júnior in April of this year. Both had previously worked together at Flamengo.

In an interview with the channel Café do Setorista, by journalist Samir Carvalho, Corinthians president Osmar Stabile spoke about the professional's departure: "It was a mutual agreement between the parties, with neither side paying a penalty. Fabinho had been considering leaving for some time, and we are grateful to him,” he began.

He further added that the Alvinegro will seek a market professional to replace him. Additionally, he stated that he will not appoint a statutory football director to the position in question: "No. We respect our professionals, and while they are at Corinthians, we are not looking for a replacement. Now that Fabinho has left the club, we will go to the market to find a new football executive. I will not appoint anyone from the council to the position. We seek qualified individuals in the field to work in the board. Without preparation, they will not enter the club,” he said.

During his tenure leading the football department, Corinthians won the Paulistão and the Copa do Brasil, both in 2025. Additionally, they had mid-level campaigns in the Brasileirão and reached the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil and the South American Cup in 2024, respectively.
