Corinthians confirm new deal for youth team’s promising goalkeeper

This Wednesday (7th), Corinthians officially announced on its social media the contract renewal of goalkeeper Matheus Corrêa, 19 years old, until December 2028. Previously, his contract with the Alvinegro was only valid until the end of July 2026. According to ge.globo and confirmed by Central do Timão, the renewal was approved by coach Dorival Júnior and Fabinho Soldado, the club’s football executive at the time.

On the other hand, negotiations were conducted by Erasmo Darmiani, the executive of Corinthians’ youth categories. The contract extension for the goalkeeper, who is the undisputed starter for Timãozinho’s U-20, included a salary increase and higher release clauses, aiming to protect against interest from foreign clubs.

On Corinthians’ official website, Matheus Corrêa spoke about the feeling of extending his contract with the club from Parque São Jorge. It’s worth noting that the athlete is with the Filhos do Terrão in the Copinha 2026 tournament: “I am very happy with this renewal. I have been at Corinthians for ten years, it’s the club I love, for whom I promise work, dedication, and commitment with this shirt to fight for every title we compete for,” he said.

The president of Corinthians, Osmar Stabile, also celebrated the player’s stay at the club and highlighted the value that the current management has been giving to the youth categories, mentioning Erasmo: “Our management has valued youth players, who have been promoted to join the first team, as well as players who are already established professionals. The work that has been done together with [youth football executive] Erasmo Damiani aims exactly at this appreciation of our talents, and with Matheus it is no different,” he commented.

In Corinthians’ youth categories, Matheus Corrêa has played 23 matches for the U-17, where he won the Paulista U-17 Championship in 2023 against São Paulo, and another 28 for the U-20. In the aforementioned title, the goalkeeper was decisive by saving several penalties during the campaign.

Currently, Matheus Corrêa is considered the fourth goalkeeper in Corinthians’ professional squad, behind only Hugo Souza, Felipe Longo, and Kauê Camargo. The renewal has already been registered in the CBF’s Daily Information Bulletin (BID).
