Corinthians confirm signing of Uruguayan striker Belén Aquino

Corinthians officially announced, early this Saturday afternoon, its third signing for the 2026 season. It is the Uruguayan forward Belén Aquino, 23 years old, who joins the Brabas after standing out while playing for Internacional.

The player signed a two-year contract with the club from Parque São Jorge, with the possibility of an automatic renewal for another three seasons. Timão, however, chose not to disclose the financial details of the deal.

Belén is already part of the Corinthians squad’s routine and has been training at the Parque São Jorge training center since last Monday, the date when the group returned for medical exams and physical evaluations.

The forward had a contract with Internacional until the end of 2026, renewed at the beginning of 2024, and was considered an important player by the club from Rio Grande do Sul, which initially made her release difficult. Even so, Corinthians managed to move forward in negotiations and complete the signing. The terms of the agreement remain confidential.

Revealed in Uruguayan football, Belén Aquino played for Colón, Progreso, and Peñarol before joining Internacional in 2023. That year, she won the Campeonato Gaúcho and, since then, played 81 matches for the club, scoring 32 goals.

Even in a 2025 season that was below expectations collectively for the Colorado team, the Uruguayan once again stood out individually. She finished the year as the team’s top scorer, with 11 goals, in addition to two assists in 26 games. Belén also represented the Uruguay national team in the Women’s Copa América, where she scored two goals in six matches.

She is the first Uruguayan to wear the Corinthians Women’s jersey and the seventh foreign player in the club’s history in the women’s division, joining Lia Salazar, Daniela Arias, Gisela Robledo, Paola García, Agustina, and Dayana Rodríguez.

Recently, Corinthians had already announced the arrival of forward Rhaizza, formerly of Bahia, and midfielder Paola García, who played for Deportivo Cali, Colombia. The club also officially signed defensive midfielder Ana Vitória, coming from Atlético de Madrid, Spain, and has a deal in place with defender Agustina Barroso.

The women’s squad underwent significant changes with the departures of forward Eudimilla, goalkeeper Kemelli, full-backs Letícia Santos and Paulinha, and defender Mariza. On the other hand, goalkeepers Lelê and Nicole Ramos, defender Erika, full-backs Tamires and Gi Fernandes, and midfielder Gabi Zanotti remain at the club.

On the field, Corinthians will kick off the 2026 season on January 28, at 9:30 a.m. (Brasília time), when they face Gotham FC from the United States in a single-match semifinal of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup. The match will be played in London, England.
