Memphis Depay could return for Corinthians in Thursday's Libertadores last-16 second leg against Rosario Central, with a contract renewal close after he reported back to CT Dr. Joaquim Grava on Tuesday.
He is finalising an extension until mid 2028 and the club is pushing to regularise him on the CBF's BID on Tuesday to make him available. He is expected to be named in the squad.
According to ge.globo, he would likely start on the bench and play about 30 to 45 minutes, dependent on the renewal and registration being completed. He is already inscribed for the competition.
Club president Osmar Stabile had said everything pointed to his inclusion and that the club were accelerating the paperwork.
The stance shifted after Corinthians said last week they would not renew, with talks resuming amid supporter pressure. On Monday the advisory council tied 6-6 before its president, Miguel Marques e Silva, backed an extension. The body is consultative and Stabile later confirmed the renewal.
Terms are expected to mirror those discussed, including an option to add two seasons.
Depay has not played since 25 June, when the Netherlands beat Tunisia 3-1 in the World Cup group stage. Diniz is short in attack, with Yuri Alberto sidelined by a grade two injury in the back of his right thigh, Kayke rehabbing ACL surgery and Vitinho recovering from a meniscus procedure.
Corinthians need any win to reach the quarter finals after a 0-0 first leg in Argentina.
