Corinthians defender Thais Ferreira withdrawn from Brazil squad | OneFootball

Corinthians centre-back Thais Ferreira was withdrawn from the Brazil women’s squad on Monday due to discomfort in her left knee.

The club said in a statement that she reported the issue and will return to Corinthians for treatment with its health and performance unit. She had been called up by coach Arthur Elias for this FIFA window against Argentina.

In her place, Arthur Elias has called up São Paulo defender Carol Gil.

Ferreira had joined the camp in Porto Alegre on Sunday. After reporting the issue, the Brazil staff released her from duty.

Corinthians still have three players in the squad, midfielder Duda Sampaio and forwards Jaqueline and Jhonson. Brazil play Argentina on 10 October at Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre, then on 13 October at Arena Pernambuco in São Lourenço da Mata. Corinthians begin their Libertadores campaign on 15 October against Colo-Colo in Quito, with the trio expected to travel on 14 October alongside Cruzeiro and Palmeiras players.
