Corinthians discover 2025 Copa do Brasil semi-final fixtures

A draw held at the CBF headquarters in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday, the 22nd, determined the home and away games for the semifinals of the 2025 Copa do Brasil. Corinthians will face Cruzeiro as their opponent in the national competition and found out they will decide the spot in the final at their home, Neo Química Arena. The first leg will be played at Mineirão.

It is worth remembering that Corinthians will face Cruzeiro in one of the semifinals. The Minas Gerais club eliminated Atlético-MG after two 2-0 victories in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, the Alvinegro defeated Athletico-PR, winning 1-0 in the first leg at Ligga Arena and securing another victory at Neo Química Arena in the return leg, this time by 2-0.

The other match in the national knockout tournament semifinal will be between Fluminense and Vasco da Gama. The semifinals of the 2025 Copa do Brasil will be played on December 10 and 14. The Brazilian football calendar was altered in August when the CBF decided to bring forward the end of the Brazilian Championship and move the final stages of the knockout tournament to later.

In this edition of the competition, Corinthians eliminated Grêmio Novorizontino and Palmeiras in the third phase and the round of 16, respectively, as well as Athletico-PR in the quarterfinals. In six games in the Copa do Brasil, they have six victories, eight goals scored, and no goals conceded.

Besides the achievement of a national trophy, which grants direct entry to the next edition of the Libertadores and the Supercopa do Brasil, Corinthians sees the Copa do Brasil as an opportunity to fill their coffers.

Advancing to the semifinals, in fact, earned Corinthians R$ 9.9 million. In total, the club has already pocketed R$ 20.6 million in prize money for their campaign in the competition, surpassing the minimum budget target set at R$ 10.7 million. A qualification for the grand final could generate an additional R$ 33.075 million for the Alvinegro's coffers. In the event of a title, the prize is R$ 77.175 million.

Corinthians is seeking their fourth Copa do Brasil title after falling in the semifinals of the competition in the 2023 and 2024 editions, and suffering a bitter runner-up finish on penalties to Flamengo in 2022. Timão was champion in 1995, 2002, and 2009, and has also finished in second place in the tournament in 2001, 2008, and 2018.
