Corinthians’ Associates Ethics Committee has expelled former academy officials Claudinei Alves and Valmir Costa from the club’s membership. The pair retain the right to appeal to the Deliberative Council plenary.
According to Meu Timao, the decision relates to their involvement in events on 31 May 2025, when associates and councillors allied to Augusto Melo entered Parque São Jorge seeking to restore him as club president.
Alves headed the youth setup from 2024 until early May 2025 under Melo, while Costa served as deputy academy director and general secretary. Together they oversaw 87 signings for the under-17 and under-20 teams.
In a social media communiqué, Alves rejected the ruling, denied entering the presidential office and argued the sanction was disproportionate, saying others received lighter penalties. He added he would defend his reputation through the proper channels.
Also expelled on Monday night were councillors Maria Angela Ocampos, the Council’s first secretary, plus Paulo Juricic and Ronaldo Fernandez Tomé, both members of the Ethics Council. Fellow councillor Mario Mello Junior was due to be judged but fell ill before the opinion was read, so his vote was postponed.
The quartet’s hearing had been slated for 1 June, but Ocampos requested a delay citing a family matter. On that date only former president Augusto Melo was tried and expelled by a large majority.
After the four expulsions, the Deliberative Council meeting was adjourned to consider other pending cases, with a new date to be set by acting council president Leonardo Pantaleão.
