Corinthians face a week with NBB return and a double dose of Derby

Corinthians had an exciting weekend, with the Brabas finishing as runners-up in the FIFA Women's Champions Cup and the men's team winning the Supercopa Rei against Flamengo. However, the focus now needs to shift to the first week of February, which will feature Derbies in both categories, as well as the return of Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) for the basketball team.

Before the classics, Timão’s first commitment is a postponed Paulistão match. Due to the Supercopa, Corinthians will face Capivariano next Thursday (5th), at Neo Química Arena, for the sixth round of the state championship. The match kicks off at 8:30 pm (Brasília time).

The second commitment for the People’s Team this week is with the orange ball. On Saturday (7th), the ball goes up for the clash between Corinthians and Fortaleza Basquete Cearense, at Ginásio Wlamir Marques, starting at 4 pm. The NBB returns to normal after the Super 8 Cup, in which Timão participated in the quarterfinals—where they were eliminated by Minas Tênis Clube.

At the same time, the Brabas take the field to compete for another title at the start of the 2026 season. After facing Arsenal, Lucas Piccinato and his squad will face Palmeiras for the Supercopa do Brasil, at Arena Barueri, with the rival as the home team. The tournament brings together the champion of the Brazilian Women's League, Corinthians, against the champion of the Women's Brazil Cup, the Palestrinas.

The week will close with the first men's football Derby of 2026. For the penultimate round of the first phase of the Paulistão, Corinthians and Palmeiras face off at Neo Química Arena, starting at 8:30 pm, with expectations of a packed stadium as the People’s Team seeks their first win in a classic this season, after drawing with São Paulo and Santos.
