Corinthians supporters protested at Neo Química Arena after a 3-1 defeat to Fluminense, prompting a reinforced police presence.
According to Globo.com, before kick-off fans had already turned their backs during the team’s entrance.
After the final whistle, organised groups led chants saying players had to be men to play for Corinthians. Some supporters moved to the lower North stand near the access to the pitch.
At that point the Military Police increased the security detail and the protest remained peaceful. The players did not go over to acknowledge supporters as they usually do after matches.
No player stopped for interviews on leaving the field. It was Corinthians’ sixth straight Brasileirão defeat, and they are 14th on 32 points, three above the relegation zone.
