Corinthians host Fluminense in the Brasileirão on Sunday, 20 September 2026 in São Paulo, with the hosts looking to halt a slide and the visitors aiming to strengthen a top-four challenge.
Corinthians and Fluminense have traded blows in recent meetings. Fluminense won 3-1 in April, while Corinthians claimed a 3-0 home victory in 2024. The visitors arrive fifth in the table, with the hosts 14th.
Timão are winless in five across competitions with four defeats. Flu's recent run is mixed, but they have been far stronger at home than away this season, taking 33 points at home and 12 on the road.
Injuries shape both attacks. Corinthians are without forwards Yuri Alberto, Labyad and Kayke, plus midfielder André and defender Ramalho. Tricolor Carioca miss leading strikers Germán Cano and John Kennedy, as well as Samuel Xavier, Ignacio, Alisson and Matheus Reis. With key forwards out, Agustín Canobbio's five league goals and Luciano Acosta's creative supply could be vital for the visitors.
Flu tend to control the ball, averaging 58% possession and 88.05% pass accuracy, and have scored 41 league goals, including 12 headers, so wide deliveries could be a route in. Timão have posted 10 clean sheets and may look to keep things compact and strike from inside the box, where 23 of their 28 goals have come.
Tricolor Carioca could move into the top four with a win and consolidate their Libertadores push. Coringão, meanwhile, would ease relegation worries and edge closer to the Sudamericana places with a positive result.
