Corinthians supporters staged a protest during the Libertadores last-16 tie against Rosario Central, unveiling banners in the North stand at Neo Química Arena around 15 minutes into the first half.
According to Meu Timao, the organised fan groups displayed three messages, 'Fiel Torcedor, direito ao voto!', 'Intervenção judicial já' and 'Basta de amadorismo'.
The first slogan refers to the proposed reform of the club statute, with a General Assembly set for 19 September that could allow paid-up Fiel Torcedor members to vote at Parque São Jorge.
That ballot could be halted again after three councillors filed a case with the São Paulo Court of Justice seeking to suspend the meeting. They previously blocked a June assembly, and argue the new call did not fix issues flagged in an earlier ruling, which they believe could amount to an attempt to bypass the court’s suspension.
Calls for judicial intervention continue from a protest held last Wednesday outside the headquarters of the São Paulo public prosecutor’s office, MP-SP, which is running an inquiry into the legal viability of intervening at the club. The organised groups staged that protest as a gesture of support for MP-SP.
Gaviões da Fiel have called another demonstration this Saturday at the entrance to Parque São Jorge, to contest the club’s current political situation, starting at 10am.
