Corinthians full-back sold to Chelsea recovering after knee surgery

One of the biggest recent prospects from Corinthians' youth academy, the young left-back Denner had to undergo knee surgery. The club from Parque São Jorge gave its approval, and the recovery, after the procedure, will take place in England, where Chelsea—the club he was sold to—is based.

Born in 2008, just 17 years old, he was sold to the English club at the beginning of the year after standing out in the Copa São Paulo in January. After the transfer, he began experiencing physical, muscular, and ligament problems. For the latter, he needed to have a meniscus correction. The information was initially reported by GE and confirmed by Central do Timão.

There is still no expected date for the player’s return to Corinthians’ facilities, but the expectation is that he will be cleared to play in the Copinha in January 2026. Since he has already been sold, he will move permanently to Chelsea in the middle of the year when he turns 18.

The deal between Corinthians and Chelsea was closed during Augusto Melo's administration, for 10 million euros (approximately R$ 62.4 million). In addition, a possible bonus of 4 million euros was agreed upon if the player appears in matches for the senior team—which has not yet happened.

Besides standing out in the club’s youth categories, Denner is also seen as a promising talent for the Brazilian National Team. At 17, he has a history of playing for the U-15 and U-17 squads, but was left out of recent call-ups due to injuries.
