Corinthians goalkeeper Lelê begins transition work after right thigh injury

Corinthians goalkeeper Lelê has begun transition work towards a return after injury. The club said in a statement that she started the programme with the Brabas coaches on Tuesday.
She was diagnosed with tendinopathy in the back of her right thigh in June. She opened the season as first choice under Lucas Piccinato and kept her place after Emily Lima arrived. She was on the bench for the last two matches before the FIFA window.
While with Brazil, she started the 2-1 win over the United States at Neo Química Arena last Saturday. She felt discomfort in her right thigh in the 37th minute of the second half and was replaced by Lorena. She did not feature in the second friendly.
With Lelê nearing full recovery, only centre-back Agustina Barroso remains in the medical department. The Argentine has yet to play for the Brabas this year due to physical problems.
Despite resuming training, Lelê remains a doubt for Corinthians’ return to action. Corinthians host Ferroviária at Fazendinha on 17 July at 19:00 in the fourth round of the Campeonato Paulista.
