Corinthians have played on Christmas Eve three times, relive those matches

Christmas is coming and this Tuesday (24), on the eve of the date, Central do Timão recalls the only times Corinthians played on this day in its 115-year history. According to the Almanaque do Timão, there are three recorded occasions when the Alvinegro took the field on this date.

The first time was in 1922, against Palestra Itália, now known as Palmeiras, in a match valid for the second round of the Campeonato Paulista. The game took place at Parque Antártica, was refereed by Antônio Zecchi, and ended 3-2 for the rival. On that occasion, Amílcar and Gambarotta scored the goals for Timão.

The second time Corinthians took the field on Christmas Eve was 28 years later, in 1950. On that occasion, Timão beat Guarani 3-1, in a match valid for the second round of the Campeonato Paulista, held at Estádio Alfredo Schurig, in Parque São Jorge. Cláudio, Jonas, and Luizinho scored the goals for the team in the match.

Two years later, Corinthians played on this date for the last time so far. Against Juventus, from Mooca, Timão secured a 3-0 victory at Pacaembu, in a match valid for the second round of the Campeonato Paulista. Luizinho, Souzinha, and Carbone scored the goals for the Alvinegro in the match.
