Corinthians endured a mixed Sunday, slipping to a 2-1 defeat at Coritiba while a club youngster scored for Brazil Under-17s, and the Gaviões da Fiel responded to a club councillor.

At Couto Pereira, in the 24th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, Corinthians were beaten 2-1. Raniele struck for the visitors, with Pedro Rocha and Paulo Roberto on target for the hosts.

Elsewhere, Brazil’s Under-17s beat Venezuela 3-0 in a friendly at Granja Comary. Corinthians attacking midfielder Lucca Caramico, 17 and born in 2009, was among the scorers.

Off the pitch, the Gaviões da Fiel issued an official note in response to comments from Paulo Pedro, a member of the club’s Conselho de Orientação, known as Cori.

He had criticised mobilisation in the stands that backs judicial intervention and a reform of the statute, describing the stance as incoherent. The group’s statement addressed those remarks.
