Corinthians lose midfielder at the last minute for Sunday’s Derby

Midfielder André Carrillo will not be available for Corinthians in the classic match against Palmeiras, valid for the seventh round of the Campeonato Paulista, this Sunday (8). The player experienced discomfort and was ruled out by the technical team led by Dorival Júnior.

The Peruvian missed the team's last training session at the Joaquim Grava Training Center, held on Saturday, as a precaution, and remained unfit to play in the match, according to information initially released by ge.globo.

Physical condition has been a point of concern at the start of the alvinegra season. After playing the final of the Copa do Brasil on December 21, 2025, the team had a reduced rest period and began 2026 amidst an intense sequence of games, within a tight schedule.

This will be Corinthians' first Derby in 2026. In the recent record, Timão has an advantage over the rival, with three wins, three draws, and only one loss throughout last year. The match against Palmeiras takes place this Sunday at 8:30 PM (Brasília time) at the Neo Química Arena and could secure Corinthians' qualification for the quarter-finals of the Campeonato Paulista.
