Corinthians medical team member elected SBMEE president from 2027

At the end of last week, the current head of the Corinthians medical department, Dr. Ricardo Galotti, was elected – for the 2027-2029 term – president of the Brazilian Society of Exercise and Sports Medicine (SBMEE). Currently, he serves as the vice-president of the entity. Previously, he had held other positions within the institution.

On the official Corinthians website, the professional celebrated the achievement and spoke about the responsibility of continuing the work that has been done: “It is a great responsibility, but also a huge joy to be elected and continue a good job, to expand the number of members, to promote our specialty, and increase the visibility of the society.”

He further added: “Nowadays, everyone aims a lot at sports practice, prioritizing health first. Our society is very active in this area, with studies and research directed at this, but also works with an eye on high-performance sports, treating pathologies that affect athletes from various sports,” he said.

In a social media post, Galotti also commented on being elected to a position of this magnitude: “I thank the support of all the regional branches that nominated me and all the colleagues who confirmed my name as president.” This is the professional's second tenure at Corinthians, as the first was between 2003 and 2013.

Recently, he returned to the Alvinegro to join the medical department and, with the departure of André Jorge, took over the leadership of the sector. The SBMEE is considered the main group of sports doctors in Brazil. Founded in 1962 and located in São Paulo, the entity aims to promote medicine both to the general population and in sports. As a form of engagement, the institution promotes various congresses and studies in the area.
